Experience an unforgettable horseback riding tour in Cotopaxi National Park from Machachi, Ecuador. Ride through the spectacular Andean páramo, volcanic landscapes and historic paths while enjoying views of Cotopaxi, Rumiñahui and Sincholagua.
We begin our adventure at Casa del Montañero, in Machachi at 8:00 AM and travel along the Avenue of the Volcanoes before continuing east on a scenic stone road toward the northern entrance of Cotopaxi National Park, at approximately 3,600 meters. There, our horses will be ready for a horseback riding experience through the Andean páramo. Along the route, we visit the spectacular Pita River Canyon, observe landscapes shaped by Cotopaxi’s volcanic activity, and enjoy views of surrounding volcanoes including Cotopaxi, Rumiñahui and Sincholagua. Depending on weather and conditions, there may also be an opportunity to spot the Andean condor. The ride continues through streams, lava paths and large volcanic rocks left by past eruptions, while we explore the unique flora and fauna of the highlands. After approximately 3 hours of horseback riding, we reach the meeting point where our private transportation will be waiting to take us back to Machachi.
